Rhona Quinn, Chairperson of QMAC Construction Ltd, has been awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours list. Rhona’s award was in recognition of her service to the Construction Industry and the Community in Northern Ireland and comes after her period as President of the Construction Employers Federation.

Rhona, who is originally from Carrickmore and now lives in Donaghmore, set up her first business thirty years ago this year, she has been involved in Retailing, Publishing and Construction. With her husband Peter and a dedicated team of staff, Rhona has grown QMAC Construction to be one of the most respected contracting businesses operating in Ireland.

Speaking about the award Rhona said “This was a complete surprise to me, I had no idea that I was being nominated but I am delighted to accept this award as a recognition of the hard work that the Federation and everyone associated with it has done through a very challenging period”. “Supporting the community is also extremely important to us, Peter and I feel privileged to be part of our local community and have always believed in giving something back”.

“Public recognition is not something that I seek” continued Rhona “but it is always pleasing when hard work and dedication is rewarded. I am overwhelmed and delighted by the number of kind messages of support that I have received since the award was announced.”
