Restoration and Refurbishment Works at Enniskillen Castle
Using an NEC3 Option A contract, QMAC Construction built a new Visitors Centre at the Grade B1 Listed Castle and undertook restoration and refurbishment work as part of a £3m+ project. The goal was to produce a world-class Visitors Centre whilst protecting, preserving, and enhancing the character of the Castle. The sympathetic restoration work involved an intricate mixture of demolition, refurbishment, and construction to several Listed buildings. The Castle remained operational throughout.
Completion:
Ian Davidson, Head of Arts and Heritage at Fermanagh & Omagh District Council commented on completion, “The project was completed to a good standard of workmanship. The Site Manager was extremely experienced and skilled particularly in respect of the H&S issues which all contributed to the smooth running of the project”.
The project was a finalist in the CEF Construction Excellence Awards 2017 in the ‘Restoration’ category.
During the construction phase, the [then] Finance Minister visited the site to showcase it as an exemplar construction project. Click here to view.
