Removal of Peace Wall at North Queen Street Complete
A project to remove a long-established Peace Wall in North Belfast has been completed. The main objective was to remove an 8m high Peace Wall which was made of metal frame and wire infill along with protective fencing. The project also involved the reconfiguration of the interface to the dwellings, removal of an existing pathway along North Queen Street, and the provision of individual garden areas to replicate the properties at the south of the site.
Jack Bothwell, Contracts Manager at QMAC Construction commented,
“We are delighted to have successfully completed this project. It presented challenges as the work had to be conducted directly adjacent to a busy road with pedestrians in the vicinity. Using experienced staff and supply chain members, we were able to ensure there was minimal disruption to the neighbouring residents. The work will help enliven and improve the frontage onto North Queen Street. I would like to thank the Northern Ireland Hosing Executive for appointing us to undertake this project”.
