Redevelopment of Arts Centre Wins Federation Award
At the prestigious Construction Employers Federation (CEF) awards event in Belfast on 3rd October 2024, the redevelopment of New Gate Arts & Culture Centre in Derry~Londonderry was declared the winner of the Social/Community Construction Project of the Year, below £2m.
Sean Mullen, Contracts Director at QMAC Construction, commented,
“Winning this award is a great achievement for the company and everyone associated with the project including employees, supply chain members, and design consultants. The project was challenging from a technical perspective as it involved the refurbishment of a dated building, the construction of an extension, stringent acoustic requirements, a BREEAM accreditation for sustainability, and working within a restricted site footprint – all within the confines of a city-centre location. Since handover, it has been great to see how the new facility has hosted so many successful events for the wider community. We wish everyone involved with the building, including the North West Cultural Partnership, every success for the future.”
