Transformation of Arts & Culture Centre Set to Commence
A £1.6m contract with Derry City and Strabane District Council has been secured which will involve the construction of an extension as well as the refurbishment of New Gate Arts & Culture Centre.
The project will consist of an extension and alterations to the existing arts centre at 20-22 Hawkin Street in Derry/Londonderry to provide modern performance, multi-use spaces, offices, and a café for North-West Culture Partnership. The project will also provide enhanced facilities for visitors, and space for nurturing and developing art-based community activities. A primary aim is that the development will achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.

On the 2nd February 2022 Gary Middleton MLA, Junior Minister, cut the first sod in the redevelopment project. He was joined by Graham Warke, Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District. See below for video from the event.
